We knew that our stay in the Forest Service house up in Crested Butte was only temporary, so I immediately began looking for a permanent place to stay almost immediately after we moved to Colorado. After looking around for a while we settled on a two-bedroom apartment in Gunnison. Peter wanted to rent a house that we had found, but I talked him out of it because it cost about $150 more a month which equates to nearly $2,000 a year. The lady who owned the house was also just renting it until she could find someone to buy it. The prospect of having to move again was not something I was willing to deal with. So, the weekend before my 27th birthday, we packed up everything again and moved. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I hate moving right now.
In fact, it's more than hate.
I loathe moving.
I have done it twice in the last month, and I am physically and mentally exhausted from it. The day after, I slept for ten hours and still had a difficult time forcing myself to get out of bed in the morning. When we first moved to Colorado we packed everything up the day before and then drove eight hours the next day and unpacked. Although we didn't have to drive much this time, we had to pack up and unload everything in one day. I'm not sure which was worse. At least when we first moved to Colorado we had help, but this time it was just me and Peter. It seems I actually managed to impress him with all of the heavy lifting I did. I guess I’m stronger than I look.
Despite the fact that we are exhausted from moving again, it’s nice to actually be in our own place, and I can finally unpack everything. Living out of boxes is really annoying. Unfortunately, we can’t get too settled here. Gunnison is just a temporary stop. In a year and a half to two years from now, we will be doing this all over again. The thought of moving again just makes me want to cry. Hopefully the next time we move it will be easier because Peter will get a transfer of station where the Forest Service will pay for the move…and you better believe I’ll be hiring movers. I’ve broken my back enough this go around. I’m not doing it again...at least not anytime soon.

I hate moving too! I'm so sick of it and so glad that we get to stay put for at least the next few years. I haven't lived anywhere longer than 2 years since I moved to California in 2002. Yuck. I definitely get ya!
Did you fall backwards over the couch again?! Best story ever! I hate moving too.
